The Cat and The Fox - Panchatantra Tales | Moral Story for Kids
Once upon a time, a cat and a fox were walking together through a forest trail, chatting and giggling like old friends.
Fox (boasting): “You know, I’m the smartest animal in this whole forest. I know 100 ways to escape from danger!”
Cat (surprised): “Wow! 100? That’s a lot! I only know one way to run from dogs.”
Fox (smirking): “Only one? Oh dear. You poor little kitty! That’s not enough! What if that one trick doesn’t work?”
Cat (shrugging): “Well… it always worked for me so far.”
Fox (with pride): “Ha! I could teach you one or two simple ones… maybe… someday… when I’m not busy being a genius.”
Suddenly, they heard loud barking.
Dogs (barking in the distance): “Woof! Woof! Grrrrr!”
Cat (eyes wide): “Uh-oh! It’s the hunters’ dogs! They’re coming!”.
Fox (calmly): “Don’t worry, I’ve got options! So many tricks in my brain! Let me just pick one…”
Cat (climbing a tree fast): “See ya! My one trick is climbing trees. Byeeee!”
The cat zipped up the tree like a ninja. The fox, on the other hand, was running in circles.
Fox (panicking): “Should I roll in mud? Play dead? Pretend to be a bush? Oh no! I can’t decide!”
The barking got louder.
Cat (from the tree): “Hey Mr. 100 Tricks! You picked one yet?”
Fox (nervously): “Still thinking!”
But before he could choose, the dogs appeared and surrounded him. The poor fox didn’t stand a chance. He couldn’t even try one trick.
Cat (shaking her head): “Too many tricks… and no time to pick!”
🧠 Moral of the Story:
It’s better to know and use one simple plan than to have a hundred and do nothing at all!
